The 10th Cyberport University Partnership Programme 2025 Graduation Ceremony Successfully Concluded

Overseas Entrepreneurship Training in Silicon Valley

Seed Funding to Embark on Startup Dreams

Hong Kong, 1 September 2025 – The Cyberport University Partnership Programme 2025 (CUPP), organized by Cyberport Academy and supported by the Cyberport Creative Micro Fund, held its graduation ceremony on 30 August successfully. This year’s programme highlights four strategic technology themes: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, Cybersecurity, and Data Science, aiming to nurture the next generation of tech-savvy entrepreneurs and innovators, injecting new impetus into Hong Kong’s innovation and technology (I&T) ecosystem. This year’s CUPP attracted 500 teams submitting entrepreneurial ideas. Following a rigorous selection process, a total of 20 teams, comprising over 50 students, were nominated to participate in an overseas entrepreneurship boot camp at Draper University in Silicon Valley, USA.

Upon completing the entrepreneurship boot camp, the 20 teams showcased their innovative solutions to the Cyberport judging panel at the graduation ceremony. 10 outstanding winning teams were each awarded HK$100,000 in seed funding from the Cyberport Creative Micro Fund (CCMF) to support the development of product prototypes over the next six months. These teams will also can join the Cyberport Incubation Programme (CIP), gaining comprehensive support in funding, technology, and business to realize their entrepreneurial dreams (Please refer to the Appendix for the List of Award-Winning Teams).

The Cyberport University Partnership Programme, a key initiative of the Cyberport Academy, supports youth entrepreneurship through a blend of training camps, mentorship, and competitions. Since its launch in 2015, it has provided entrepreneurship training to over 588 local university students. More than 97 teams have received funding from the Cyberport Creative Micro Fund to embark on their entrepreneurial journeys, with seven selected for the Cyberport Incubation Programme. Many innovative solutions developed by past teams have been commercialised and earned industry recognition, underscoring the programme’s impact. This year’s graduating startups excel across AI, blockchain, cybersecurity, and data science. Through innovative solutions, they are transforming society, enhancing market efficiency, and driving the development of smart cities and the digital economy. Cyberport will continuetofully support startups, helping them realise their entrepreneurial dreams and fueling new technological momentum for Hong Kong.”

The CUPP 2025 obtains the strong support and close collaboration of 12 local universities, the highest number to date, with a highly international participant pool. In addition to local students, participants also came from Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and Japan and South Korea. This year also marked the first time female participants outnumbered male participants. CUPP 2025 is honoured to have the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) as its honorary sponsor, also with support from the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC). Industry partners include Amazon Web Services (AWS), Cisco Hong Kong, SPIN Fashion, and the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi). Supporting organisations include the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA & CIMA) and the Hong Kong FinTech Association (FTAHK).

Since its launch, the Cyberport Creative Micro Fund (CCMF) has supported nearly 1,100 innovative teams in developing product prototypes, and helped nearly 300 of them be selected for the Cyberport Incubation Program, taking an important step towards entrepreneurship. Cyberport also established the Cyberport Academy in 2020. Cyberport also established the Cyberport Academy in 2020 partnering with leading technology companies, business enterprises and higher education institutions to provide various technology and entrepreneurship related activities and training programmes. To date, it has benefited over 15,000 people, further expanding the pool of technology talent in Hong Kong, promoting the city’s overall I&T competitiveness and supporting Hong Kong’s vision to become an international I&T hub.
